This photograph was used as a prompt and muse for a writing competition at the Winged Moon Magazine here on Substack. It was previously published in their print portait issue in January, and now highlighted to inspire writers to write. I honestly feel quite honored and very excited about the beautiful poetry that resulted from this. It certainly is my favorite kind of collaboration. I would like to say thanks to
for choosing my image and thank you to the writers for their interpretations of my artwork. Here is the poem by winning artist Emily Tee, poet and editor of The Wee Sparrow Poetry Press newsletter.
And here is another interpretation by poet Rose Norman. I love this one as well.

We celebrated Thanksgiving here in the US this past Thursday. It is my favorite American holiday and one of my favorite long weekends. A break from the normal routine was much needed and a big part of me cannot wait to get an even longer break over Christmas. I have been tired and creatively in a rut, but I know it is temporary. Now that I am done teaching all my workshops for this year, I am hopeful I can spend more time on my own photography and writing again. I have so many new ideas and projects I would like to finally realize.
It’s has been a full and busy fall, but it’s also been a very good fall. I am thankful for the time I have been able to spend homeschooling my son, for the many people I have met through my workshops and the connections I have made, I am thankful for friends old and new, for family near and far, and for rest and good food in the past couple of days.
On Thanksgiving morning, I went for a two hour hike with my dog while everyone else either slept in or spend time cooking, or both. It was a cold but beautiful morning with some mild snowfall. Here is one of my favorite moments that I was able to capture with my phone. Seeing those two made me so happy!

Last month, I hosted my first Zoom session on this platform and it went very well. This once a month ‘creative hour’ is a way to share work with each other, and provide time and space for review, feedback, questions, discussions on creativity, vision, techniques, and more. The next session will be on Saturday, December 14 at 11 am CST. This Zoom session will be accessible for paid subscribers only.
However, if that is keeping you away, here is a link where you can donate a “pay what you can amount” for one session and you can participate as well.
Subscribing is certainly the best way to support me, but I also understand if that’s not something you want to commit to at this time.
Please send me a quick message if you plan on participating. Thank you so much!
