This is such a beautiful, open and honest post Manuela, and beautiful photos as well! Change is always challenging but when your kids move into a new phase in their lives it can be so difficult to accept that they are growing and changing. When our daughter went to university and then moved out to her own place it felt quite empty here but now, that time seems a lifetime away. She has grown and we have an even better, more adult relationship with her. Wishing both your sons well as they step out onto their new paths.

I feel you. My own two kids are about to turn 17 and 19 and are at that point in life…. I wish you and especially your sons all the best as they each begin a new path!

Oh Manuela, I can feel the pangs of all of it through your writing and your lovely images. So much love there... I was just thinking this morning, actually how we embrace change when it's something we deem as good and exciting but we resist when we fear the loss of something. Clearly, it feels like a loss because he's flying the nest. That kind of change is just so bittersweet. Big hugs to you, mom. You did a wonderful job, I can tell!!!

Transitions are inherently challenging. There are so many unknowns, and we humans prefer certainty. However, growth never happens unless we leave our comfort zone in some way and venture into that awkward newness. Congratulations to both of your boys as they begin a new chapter. And big hugs to their mom as she watches them soar. 🤍🤍🤍

I love this Manuela..another wonderful meditation I would call it on change! Thank you always for sharing your deep thoughts, wisdom and feelings and having me realize that we are all so vulnerable and change is challenging. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers as you get closer to the beginning of school and let's try and connect soon. I will email you.

Thank you for such deep and personal thoughts, Manuela. This sort of change is emotional and scary. You are wise to recognize something different - but perhaps just as good - may result. This is what we experienced with our daughter, who left for college long ago and decided to continue living where she went to school. For what it's worth, we found that this change resulted (after a bit of adjustment) in a whole, new, kind of closeness and a more adult-based relationship. It takes work and effort, of course - but we have found a new level of closeness with our daughter as a result. I wish the same for you and your family.

Beautiful post, Manuela. I‘m not very comfortable with change, even if it’s for the better. I guess better the devil you know. The best wishes for you and your family! 🤍

There is so much wisdom in the way you talk about change. It’s so hard to accept and yet inevitable. I hope it all goes well for your boys Manuela.

Lovely tribute to your boy, Manuela. I wish them both well as they move on to the next chapters of their lives.

Change is so hard for me too—I resist it, delay, come up with excuses, and so on. Perhaps my fear of change has held me back in some areas of life, but when I look at the transitions I have made, they were all worth it in the end.

give yourself another 18 years and you're still not ready for your "babies" to move out 😊

and that is normal. life is a game of chess

Haha, you are wrong. In another 18 years, I want them to be gone. :)

Life is a take of chess. So true!
