Amazing!! This absolutely resonates with where I am with my own work and I've been actively trying to share more of what I do and any successes that I have as well. Congratulations! I love your portrait!
The photos are all phenomenal - including yours!! I'm partial to double exposures so its tenderness speaks to me. Knowing the backstory is also even more lovely... You do realize that your kitty is an angel, right??? CONGRATULATIONS!
I’m glad you decided to enter this series - congratulations. The portrait incorporating the dragonfly sucked me in and I’m looking forward to browsing your website.
Wonderful! Congratulations. I know how frustrating it can be to deal with these rejections. I’ve learned over the years not to take them personally. The competition is huge and the jury just a handful (or less) people with their own taste. Your work looks wonderful and I am happy for you. This is exactly what we need sometimes.
The double exposure with dragonfly is a spectacular creation. Congrats Manuela on both the acceptance to the competition, and your awareness of the process itself in terms of the how it has affected your well being. When I teach photography to kids, the dragonfly is my mascot. I show them a few ways to be more creative photographers by picking up some traits from the dragonfly.
You're a better artist than me...I quit submitting my work years ago because it made me so unhappy to be continuously rejected. I haven't tried in a long time, and I'm not sure how I could muster the bravery to do so.
First of all, whether you are submitting or not doesn't say anything about the kind of artist you are. :) You are a great artist! It can be a tough process, and it's almost like you have to find the right call at the right time. Don't give up completely!
Congratulations, Manuela! Wonderful news. Cherishing this moment of joy with you. And, that dragonfly is precious. how else to preserve it than to incorporate it in your work where it’ll live forever.
It’s so true what you say about submitting to calls for entry, how rapidly the joy of acceptance fades, how long the sting of rejection lasts. Congratulations for deciding to submit again anyway. That’s true courage! And a huge congratulations on being chosen!! I’m in love with your work. There’s such depth and mystery, and each image resonates like a fragment from a dream. Your cat is a wonderful conspirator. What an incredible gift. Thank you for your post.
