I've been painting "just for myself" for years without a single person seeing 99% of my creations. Now when I'm experiencing writers block I just take pictures of some of my stuff and post it here...
Evocative work, Manuela. It really speaks to me. The red thread reminds me of the myth of Ariadne and Theseus. It makes me think of how our memories and influences of past events and ancestors are like a labyrinth that we have to navigate.
Love this Manuela and the concept of a "common thread" linking the pieces together is fantastic, making those connections physical, through a red thread is a beautiful analogy of family history.
I'm not sure if I mentioned it to you before but you might find the work of Mexican photographer Lourdes Almeida to be relevant to yours.
I really like how you’ve tied these together (yes, I said it!!!)
Seriously, I find the pairings and the string super interesting and compelling. Great work. And yes, ideally we don’t expect anything in return for what we create, or our actions in general for that matter. It doesn’t make it easy, but it’s the ideal way to be…
And, yes, it is an ideal that is hard to keep up. I think it is unrealistic not to expect anything, and, but I think it is important to allow ourselves to get to that deep work that let's us forget everything. I think the rewards will come if we stay deeply connected to the work. But, yes, always easier said that done.
Beautiful post, Manuela! Your words completely resonate with me, and I love the story you’ve woven through your five diptychs with the red thread. The final diptych—with the button—and your closing line made me smile. Wonderful!
I love this series, it’s beautiful!
I appreciate it!
Thank you!
"Because it is only then that the work itself becomes the nourishment you need." Absolutely. Thank you! <3
Thank YOU!
I love this, so beautiful and so creative.
Thank you so much, Gill!

My pleasure! your work is always so wonderfully poised!
This is just so heartfelt and moving. The red is quite stirring against the monochrome too. Beautiful work. I can't wait to see more. x

I like that, and it is so true!

Thank you so much! This means a lot. I feel like I have heard the name before but will definitely look her up.
Lovely work. We should always just do - if we have to think too much about it we are just giving ourselves an excuse not to.
True. Thank you so much!

Love this Manuela , when we create like this art needs no justification its existence is its own purpose.
Thank you!
