Manuela, what you have written and shared here (as I have included in quotes below) resonates with me so deeply:
"I have lived through my own, tiny flood these past few days. Nothing bad nor important in the grand scheme of things, but still a flood consisting of thoughts crashing in on me. Thoughts filled with worry and regrets, questioning my life choices and my future."
This is so much where I am. Perhaps a different flood of challenges, but my flood threatens to drown me.
"We are not meant to be an ocean, we are only meant to be a small drop of what makes up the vast oceans of our world. We are meant to be a part of something bigger. We are meant for connection. We are wired for community."
"It shows that being a small drop in the ocean matters."
That drop in the ocean in indeed something that reveals us. Here's Rumi:
"You are not just the drop in the ocean. You are the mighty ocean in the drop."
We (yes, including me) struggle, we are challenged, full of questions and doubts. One answer I try to remember: each of us, we are the ocean. Within all of us, we are all the ocean.
Hi Manuela, I have written before about my own existential angst and getting through it is tough. Retraining my mind not to go into a black hole is challenging, but I love it when I can harness the energy and use my tools I know to pick myself up. That being said, less individualism and more connection is something I have been thinking HEAVILY about since my family has left this earth in back to back succession over the last five years. Last year, I put community on the top of my list of wants and desires. I have yet to find my earthly tribe. I have many acquaintances, friends and connections, but a TRIBE is much more anchored in the principles you wrote about. If we as a society could trust in a tribe more during these events, I think we can fair better. It's hard though. Thank you for bringing this to light.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this! I agree, it is hard.
I feel like our society needs to relearn a lot of skills to live a community centered life. I think materialism is certainly one thing that stands in the way, and obviously the complexity of our lives in general. Still, i have hope.
Well said. I find myself feeling the same way sometime, and introducing some perspective into the situation tends to help me too. It's kind of crazy how insular we have become... but bringing others into the fold, asking for help, asking for input, asking how someone else is doing and actually listening is so important. It's just tough for some of us to pull off the band-aid and do it. Thanks for sharing this.

Thank you! I appreciate your thoughts. Yes, it is tough. But no matter how small a step is, it matters. That at least what I try to tell myself.
